I'm pretty excited.

I like the idea of motion control. I've read lots of other people's opinions on the subject, basically saying that they wish they could just press a button. Now, on the Wii, there have obviously been a lot of games that get motion control absolutely wrong, and the game comes off as complete garbage because of frustration, even if the game itself could be good with better control. I guess people are comfortable with that familiarity, that sense that "when I do this, this exact thing will happen."

But pushing buttons is a pretty arbitrary thing to do – it gives the sense of disconnect that can be used for a specific purpose, but often isn't. Lots of the best Wii games don't really do anything too amazing in the motion control department, but when they nail it, it's one of the most glorious things in videogaming. My experiences with Motion Plus technology have left me feeling exhilarated, especially in games like Wii Sports Resort, where I've literally lost hours playing table tennis simply because it feels amazing.

Natal is one of the first things that's gotten me interested in the 360. I'm not really big on the "macho-man" simulators, and while I can appreciate games like Mass Effect and Fallout 3 (even having not played them), the 360 doesn't often offer the type of games that I usually play. Fair enough, there's games for every type of player, and the 360 has a certain market cornered. But Natal seems to be opening up new play opportunities, and on the plus side, you don't have to deal with a ridiuculous looking thing like the PS3 back massager. There's something that's satisfying on a primal level in feeling like you're actually doing what's happening on screen. It doesn't make sense to me, but I know I enjoy it.
