I was reading through Joystiq's witty and well-written coverage of gaming "news" when I had a (not so original) revelation: isn't all gaming news simply the recycling of game PR? There's no journalistic insight or construction of these events – gaming sites simply re-release press releases to their respective communities. I've been guilty of this in the past but no longer. From now on, the blog will only discuss upcoming releases or features of games as a means for short-form criticism. Simply relaying that a game exists and, yes, is coming out, really shouldn't be the job of gaming journalists. This isn't "news" in a way that that term is usually understood, so let's leave that job to the company hacks who get paid to do this sort of thing.
