If only I could remember what it was. Gah, I'm sure it'll come to me.
OK, enough of that little joke. This is indeed the week that Halo: Reach hype hits overdrive, and there have already been a few "OMG GOTY" reviews around the internet. I know that Christian really digs on the series, and I have to concede that there are some kind of neat-looking things going on in the little bits of footage that I've seen, so I'm confused. Dear readers, I need to know: what's going on? Is Halo worth playing? I've never played a single one, mainly because I didn't have any gaming consoles until 2005, and that was the year I bought a Gamecube. It's always looked a little… faceless to me. I know that Master Chief is supposed to be this big gaming icon, but it seems as though this cult has been built around him based on, what, his winning personality? How good he looks in army get-up? Plus, I've never really been one for first-person shooter multiplayer (outside of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, of course), and that's really where Halo fans get their johnnies.
In other news, though, this of course is the time when the number of releases and the amount of hype in general hits a peak. Personally, there's only about four games I'm really, really pumped to play: Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (plus others I'm almost certainly forgetting about). What's on your docket for the fall/winter?
