Read it.
Or rather, take a look at it. The News section is intended to follow on in the footsteps of a now extinct website, All Games Beta. The idea behind the site was to strip away what was seen as unnecessary to the news at hand. For the most part, the original idea behind All Games Beta is something I want to see more of. Reporting on information about videogames has never been more important than it is right now, but currently the industry seems mired in a miasma of boring design and a focus on being first or getting exclusive information. If you want to know why the focus on this is awful, watch the video below.
So at Vigigames, we've opted for an approach that lauds the same no frills, no compromises approach that we saw at All Games Beta. The News section is both a tribute to the wonderful work done there, and in the future, will attempt to branch out into its own ideas for how best to look at videogames. News may also contain connections to art that the creator feels matches the feeling of a game, or relate to the message given by developers and their commentary.
The first game to be formally recognized is Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday, which will be up either until the end of the week or until some bigger news overshadows it and justifies putting up something new in its place. The News will be unique unto itself, no two pieces will look alike, though there may be similarities in design. The news is also not trying to be first or exclusive, rather opting for the quality of the information and presentation to speak for itself. If you want to look at past pieces of news, like the piece on Journey, aside from clicking on the link, you can also check out the forums and go to the News subsection. If there's a piece you would like to see or want to report, give it a mention in the forums and if it's big enough and has that original flare, we'll give it a go.
