Today, I came across a really great article from GameSpy that outlines some of the dumbest moments in the gaming industry. You can read it here.
I think what's even more fascinating than the actual article is both a) how much things have changed since 2003, when this article was written (making things that seemed dumb at the time, like Valve investing in an online infrastructure, well, not be so dumb) and b) how the 90s were a crazy time for videogaming, and I think we've sort of lost that sense of innocence (or naivete, I suppose).
If I was going to add one to the list that is very recent, it would be Sony of America saying that they're planning on supporting the PSP for a "ten-year cycle" and that it's just hitting its stride now. Even if that were true, saying that the week after the 3DS was shown sounds like dumb, dumb, dumb business sense to me, especially coming from a company who, by all accounts, has seriously bungled their handling of the system.
Anyways, check out the article. What are some of your "dumbest moments" in videogaming?
