Well, no, I actually don't hate the fictional spokesperson for Sony's Playstation division. I think the actor playing him has pretty good comic timing.
What I actually take offense to are the commercials' condescending attitude towards women, specifically the two that I'm going to post below here:
LADIES, did you know? You're whiny and stupid, and you either won't let men play their videogames OR you're too stupid to know that your men ARE playing videogames.
I just don't understand these commercials. They don't broaden the PS3's audience, they just play into the idea that they're for men and men only. My girlfriend and I were watching the Discovery Channel when the God of War III commercial came on, and she was incredibly offended, as was I, honestly. I hope that we can see some less denigrating advertising in the future from Sony. I mean, you've already hooked in the players who would have bought that stuff anyways, so why not try advertising in a different way so that you don't piss off all of the people who haven't bought your console yet?

That's just silly Matthew- women don't know what videogames are. Hence, they couldn't possibly know how offensive these commercials are. "MAN"-KIND RULES AGAIN!
Seriously though, I can't fucking believe how backwards these ads are. Way to keep sexism alive in 2010 Sony.
Unrelated sidenote: Amy and I played Castle Crashers last night only because she wanted to play Team Fortress 2, which doesn't have local multiplayer. Guess what Sony, girls play first-person shooters too! Holy shit, I'm sorry, did I just blow your mind?

I'M FED UP WITH THIS WOARLD.

I think it's more a comment that the first game is really fun to play and the second game is really pretty. I didn't see any overt sexism, though in the second one it kind of shows.
See, but I don't know that sexism has to be overt to be terrible. Here, it's specifically using women to show stupidity. In terms of advertising demographics, using a person of any gender is designed as a means of advertising to a particular gender. That's what makes these ads so frustrating. They're not about these particular women, they're about women and men in general.
